New Music Video Out Now

I'm very pleased to announce the official music video for my new single, The Only Way Out Is Through, is now available to watch on YouTube & Facebook.
Filmed on location in Transylvania, Romania this past Fall, the video was directed by Kálmán Eszter Antónia, an 18-year old emerging artist/director and songwriter in her own right. Many thanks to Norbert Kovacs and the entire team at Republic Production for inviting me to work with them. This journey opened the door to a series of deeply personal, eye-opening experiences.
Traveling to Romania to film this video, as well as the music video for Into the Light, was incredibly powerful, as I followed my ancestral roots back to Eastern Europe and traced the trail that my grandmother took as she escaped from the Warsaw Ghetto through Budapest during WWII.
It wasn't until after I'd visited Cluj, the unofficial capital of Transylvania, that I discovered my grandmother's life had been saved by a Romanian Jew from Cluj who negotiated with the Nazis to spare thousands of Jewish lives. If not for this man, Israel Katzner, I would have never been born, as my grandmother would have perished in the camps along with her parents, siblings, and cousins. |
If you've been following the story behind this album -- or if you're just learning more -- it is based on my story of healing from deep-seated abuse that I experienced growing up in a post WWII second-generation household rife with violence.
Facing that agony, breaking the cycle of abuse, and doing my part to heal intergenerational trauma is the subject of this song -- yet the deeper message is about finding the strength to persevere, overcome, and emerge stronger, wiser, kinder, and more resilient than ever.
